Roger Engemann Distinguished Research Scholar Nagesh Murthy is the recipient of the 2016 Sushil K. Gupta POMS Distinguished Service Award, the highest recognition given for service at the POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) Conference. Murthy is the sixth person to receive this award since it was instituted.

Murthy is associate professor of operations management and academic director for the Center for Sustainable Business Practices at University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business. POMS is the premier international organization extending knowledge that contributes to improved manufacturing production and operations. POMS publishes the Production and Operations Management journal, which was recently added to Bloomberg Businessweek's list of top 20 business research journals.
Murthy said he is humbled by the award and that it is the result of the tremendous support provided by Lundquist College administration during the last decade, as well as the involvement of several staff, faculty, and doctoral students at the college.
